can come in all forms of art. It's about their perspective and someone else's vision of the world.

Figuring out an artists mind in another concept of art is a puzzle thats entertainment to myself and can be the most inspiring.  In the world of art, it's a ripple effect of passion being inspired from one to another. Which is why as an artist, it's good to expand your eye... your mind in other another world of perspective. It could be a painter, a dancer, a chef, a musician, to even a scientist. It's the beauty of passion.

Great art always speaks for itself. From the detail of figuring out why they picked the material, the color pallets and why a piece of art is presented the way that it is in a gallery. Even the ambiance of gallery show is important-the music sets the energy, the vibe of a place. Alex Codd, in that matter, has definitely reached all expectations of what modernized street art should FEEL like.

GETTING READY FOR THE DAY TO GETTING READY FOR THE EVENING...

BARE MINERALS: illuminating concealer

MY MUST HAVE!

MY MUST HAVE!

When it comes to the work I do, I'm definitely on my feet all day. Sweat coming down my face and you can sat I pretty much ran a marathon at the salon on a busy FRIDAY NIGHT. On top of that you have an outing or an event you have to attend to after...QUICK & EASY "get ready fast" moments is needed.

  1. BIRD-BATH: definition of a bird bath is "aiming the water where it doesn't melt your hair and makeup completely. Angling your shower head and adjusting the water pressure is KEY.
  2. FROM BOTTOM LASHES AND DOWN: is what you have to wash to have a start fresh for the evening. REDOING your makeup underneath your eyes, cheek and underneath your neck keeps your GLOW REAL.
  3. SNEAKER/HEEL CHANGE: After a long day on being on your feet, for automatic comfort for your precious toes is changing your shoe selection. IT MAKES YOUR FEET FEEL LIKE HEAVEN. Even if its changing a heel to another heel OR sneaker to another sneaker.
  4. DIRTY HAIR IS BETTER FOR THE WEEKEND: A bun is always my quick morning go to but braiding the 2 pieces and shaping it to a bun. See YOUTUBE VIDEO above. SOFT LACQUER   for a tight smooth pony tail and DRY for the textured bun.

I spy BEYONCE...

I spy BEYONCE...

The person behind the ambiance is DJ MATLOCKBEATS. He didn't just create the energy well for the gallery show but he kept our ears (my ears...) engaged into the music continuously. As my eyes were catching interest in the art, my ears kept wondering what the next song was gonna be. When he hosts another gallery show, don't miss it!

STYLE in VEGAS

Winter is ending...

...and when your skin is urging for a little sun... And a little excitement, VIVA LA VEGAS is the answer! For all my hard workers out there (especially after a busy holiday), recharging your energy is always required. It keeps our creative juices flowing, our mental brains working and our bodies recharged to work even harder.

BOTTOM-LINE IS: WHAT TO WEAR!

The weather in Vegas around this time is the ideal weather temperature when it comes to individuals like myself that can't handle too much heat, 60 to 70 degree weather. SO anything pretty much goes when it comes to deciding what fabrics to wear.  The wind was the only thing that was cold and I was so glad I brought a lot of layers to wear for the trip.

Airport wear:

Whenever it comes to WHAT TO WEAR TO THE AIRPORT, my ultimate goal is to be comfortable but still be STYLISH and not look TIRED for a 6AM flight.

MY GO TO CHOICES ARE ALWAYS:

loose trousers, loose jumpsuits, or flown dresses, cute sneakers, wedge heels or sandals and my biggest suggestions for tops is LAYERS! We always either get really hot or really cold. SOFT FABRICS you can never go wrong.

SKIRT: forever21 $17.90

Found this piece at forever 21 and it totally was a hit for my somewhat dressy to somewhat casual dinner. I paired it rose gold  Nike Huaraches ($120), forever21 white crop top ($15), which by the way was really soft and comfy, with my jean Zara trench coat ($39.95). When it comes to my daily outfit choice of jewelry or accessories, a watch is always needed. #GIRLBOSSES WEAR WATCHES. PERIOD. I choose Rose gold Marc Jacobs watch ($99) AND its my favorite go to when pairing with PINKS.

NIGHT OUT @ MARQUEE NIGHT CLUB

BLAZER: forever21

BLAZER: forever21

The night out, I love to be as comfortable as possible. With a silk pink blazer, I was really thinking it would be comfortable but honestly it was most definitely not! It looked great but I was literally dying from the heat. CUTE FOR PHOTOS BUT NOT RECCCOMMENDED.

Whenever when a person is need (fashion-wise), of course I'm down to help! Enhancing someones beauty is priceless.

First off, figure out what they're wearing and THEN decide what the look of the hair is going to be.

DJ MUSTARD for sure played well because all my buttons came off one by one as the night progressed! Lets just say I couldn't stop dancing (BEYONCE  & RIRI MODE). As a lady, I held my dress together the whole time manually.

How I wore it...

FEBRUARY in Vegas, its windy and the air is freezing. Don't expect it to be that humid air that Vegas is known for. Imagine Seattle's early spring weather where the sun is out but you still need clothing to keep yourself warm enough to walk around the city.

A "OLD BUT NEW" mesh dress ($10 at forever21) and black mule heels ($30 at forever21) with a black leather choker ($15 at express) and "OLD BUT NEW" ear cuffs (forever 21) were my add ons to this bathing suit.

LAST NIGHT IN VEGAS means TIME TO LIVE IT UP LIKE THE LAST NIGHT.

velve/mesh dress: MISSGUIDED.COM ($33)

velve/mesh dress: MISSGUIDED.COM ($33)

Big Sean was performing that night and definitely all of US had to wear our best attire to make a good appearance at the club. This mesh/velvet dress from missguided.com ($33) was the perfect choice! CYBER MONDAY can come in handy sometimes. A few extra purchases leads to future outfits you never thought you would need later on and WHO CAN SAY NO TO 50%OFF? Shoes wise a sexy black platform open toe ankle strap from Steve Madden were the dancing shoe choice for the night. When it comes to heels you have to make sure they are comfortable enough to where you can wear them all night.

GOLDEN GIRL

Round 2 w/ Ninethirtycreative:

Another creative shoot with this group and my first time working with this makeup artist (Karla.makeupartist). Overall it was great! Even though I was really exhausted from my work week, I always get an adrenaline rush when it comes to bringing out our imagination through the camera. ALWAYS YOUR PASSION AS YOUR ENERGY DRINK (and of course on top of your 4-shot Starbucks coffee). Plus, Geneieve was an amazing model to shoot with.

LOOK 1

  • BUILDING TEXTURE.   For airy curls, spray in MAXIMISTA roots to ends and blow dry the hair back and forth with using your hands. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH TENSION. Repeat steps until you have the desired texture.
  • CURL SETTING. Section 1 inch sections starting from bottom to top and about 2 fingers width size. When you're using 1/4 INCH CURLING IRON, make sure you're switching directions with every other OUTTER BARREL CURL.
  • REVAMP VOLUME.   FACT: Whenever you place a hot tool on the hair after building texture it, it tends to flatten the volume out. SO... to REVAMP it, you have to put back in the texture and re-blowdry. A.K.A using my favorite-MAXIMISTA.
  • SHAPE. Grab your paddle brush and shape the hair by lacing or backcombing to get your desired shape. As you go, don't be too shy with THICK HAIRSPRAY by oribe to add in "texture, shine and hold".
  • TIP: To give extra love for the "natural looking volume", grab your backcombing brush and rub right onto the scalp. IT VAMPS THE HAIR EVEN MORE and its the PERFECT technique for re-fluffing throughout the shoot.
  • FINISHING TOUCH. A little dab of BRILLIANTINE to piece out the ends to give more of a PIECEY EFFECT.

LOOK 2:

  • ***For the second outfit, I just tucked in the hair in the bathing suit top. Sometimes clothes can be your GO-TO HAIRSTYLE.

  • BUILDING MORE TEXTURE. Spray a good amount of DRYSPUN from roots to end and make sure it feels theres enough texture like straw.
  • PARTINGS. 1. From the crown area to the round of the head where the occipital starts | 2. Sides of the head to the nape area (for the HIGH PONY TAIL)
  • BRAID #1. Start braid at the top of the OCCIPITAL and begin the outer braid towards the front hairline while adding the one of YAKI PONY extension and braiding it and securing it with a  black rubber band headband .
  • PONYTAIL. Place the high pony right where the braid starts, using SOFT LACQUER and a paddle brush to create a smooth high ponytail at the occipital of the head.
  • BRAID #1 to PONYTAIL. Bring BRAID #1 back to the ponytail, do one wrap around the ponytail and then secure with a bobby pin to the band of the ponytail and bra. Slowly piece out and secure BRAID #1 that is loosely hanging about the crown area.
  • BRAID #2. Braid extension #2 and also secure it with a black rubber band headband.

HIGHLIGHT:

With everything I do, I always try to push myself to do better or challenage myself to do more outside of my box. One of the best advice I got from "hair dad" (Christophe), keep following the best of the best to push your ability to do more like hair artists like Julien dys, who travels, draws out his hair inspiration and makes it come to life! Then there's other artists like Euegene Souleiman who definitely creates hair art. And we can't forget Orlando pita, Laurant Phillipon and Sam McNight who has done amazing shows as well. (And of course in Christophe French lingo lol )

So now when I travel, whatever I see I try to key in ideas to influence my work.

MAKEUP INSPIRATION:

Whenever I go to Hawaii, I always leave with that Hawaiian golden glow. In this photoshoot, I REALLY wanted to capture that feeling.

So I used a lot of golden and copper tones on her eyes and her cheeks and including her highlighting areas. Eyeshadows from urban decay pallets, Anastacisa's contour kit, glow kit and brow wax. I couldn't find my white eyeliner so I improvised and used a MAC lipstick for her eyeliner. It was a little difficult but because it was matte and it worked just fine. For the lashes, I used the KISS brand individual lashes and what I loved about their individual lashes is how thick the band and how natural looking they are.

LOOK 1:

  • BLOWDRY. To calm down her texture, a few sprays of FLUIDISSME (kerastace) from each side aiming mid-shaft to ends and round brush straight with towel dried hair. TENSION IS KEY!!
  • FIND YOUR PART. Use your tail comb and duck bill clips to have clean lines for your part!
  • BRAIDING ACTION. Before starting your braid, spray a mist of STYLING LOTION (bumble&bumble) to keep your braids polished. Braid 2 different braids down your part and stop after an inch to do a twist and continue to another inch and twist. REPEAT till you reach the round of the head.

  • KERASTACE FLUIDISSME: Helps remove the frizz as I blow out her texture.
  • ORIBE SOFT LACQUER:  Holds and keeps moisture in her hair as I flat iron each section.

Gene Juarez-a family of beauty culture

This meeting was different. Not only did it share our successes but it was very motivating on how we could be better as a team, as a family. I'm so proud to be apart of a company like us and the future looks so bright for a lot of us!

image.jpg

We had an inspirational speaker from Ted Talks talking about a different perspective and a different mindset when it comes to our relationships to our client relationships. Telling us there's many ways to make more personalable and creating that trust with our clients. Basically, being more engaging and remembering the details. The little things we remember to the thoughtful things we do, can help us create those relationships.

Manny, the barber from V76

Manny, the barber from V76

Meetings for a stylist, are always about either creating or bettering our craft or reinspiring our imaginations to create more and having no limits. Manny, a chill intelligent proffessional that definitely knows quality service as a barber. From using different verbage when talking about different fade lengths or hairline placements, a lot of his information was useful. Especially when giving higher quality service to a customer that normally goes to a barbershop. Also, he was very encouraging when it comes to trying new things and new tools. To me, that's how you know they're a great artist-is when they let you know there's no right or wrong answer.

Calling ALL Curly Hair Heads!!!!

OUIDAD  is the answer!

image.jpg

Not only it's a remarkable brand, but the products actually do W O R K! With taking the class and gaining the product knowledge from it, I was able to get my hands on session with one of my clients and even myself.

They have 4 family lines that are prescribed to 4 different curl types. In the curly hair world, we all know there's never a set and stone type of curl which is why I love this product line. From their shampoo and conditioner to Ouidads styling products, everything makes sense with the philosophy of WHY each one is for each type of curl pattern! The products are very effective, light and it brings you softness instead of that "hard-gel" feeling.

In that case, try it for yourself!!! Go to your nearest Gene Juarez location or find me downtown  to help you pick out your perfect OUIDAD product for your hair :)

How I choose my lipstick all depends on how I feel-with the outfit or mood in general.  "Amplified creme VIVA LA GLAM Miley Cyrus " is what I choose for Saturday's look. Creamy, glossy and bright! If you want to change a gloomy day, brighten it up with a lip color. 👌🏼

To change a average ponytail to a interesting ponytail, wrapping a few thick strands down the ponytail gives it movement and structure.  Secure it with a long Bobby pins to keep it in place. In my ponytail, I used about 4-5.
